Money and Energy Saving Tips

Number 5

Even a small leak will allow both air and money out of your home. Common leaks are in your air ducts and surrounding a window unit. If the unit isn’t fitted properly, there may be small gaps allowing the air to escape. Simply caulking around these spaces can drastically reduce the leaks. If the leaks are in your air ducts, our team will gladly come inspect your air ducts to ensure those are functioning the best they can be!

Number 4

A dirty AC or furnace filter is bad for two main reasons. First, it is allowing particles of dirt to flow more freely through your home, which in turn, dramatically decreases your overall indoor air quality. Secondly, it is causing your unit to work much harder in order to pump out the hot or cold air, depending on if it is your furnace or AC filter. This decreases the unit’s efficiency and is also a lot more money out of your pocket.

Number 7

Changing your thermostat will provide great savings! Though the recommended settings may vary across industry professionals, we can all agree that it is NOT a good idea to completely turn your unit off when you are not home. The energy needed to reboot your entire unit is much greater than the energy used by running it at a higher temperature while you are away. Number 10

While it may seem like a big investment to purchase a new AC unit, it may actually save you money in the long run. An inefficient unit can be a huge money pit. If your AC unit is over 10 years old, it may be worthwhile to contact Stellar Services and talk to our experts about getting a new unit. We make the entire installation process a piece of cake!
